Banimarama’s hand-picked consultations expert, Kisoko Cagituivei, has exposed just how shallow the Bainimarama regime’s talk of a roadmap is. He went to Valelevu and when the issue of settlements was raised, he claimed that settlers were all people who sold their land and moved to Suva, a stereotype that adds nothing to the discussion of a difficult problem. Then he claimed the regime can sort out titles for the people, but didn’t say how. After five years of promises, this is an insult to the intelligence of his audience. The road map has been talking about land and the squatter problem for five years but done nothing about it.
